Her journey through the realms of fiction and non-fiction has so far been as adventurous as it was challenging. She has worked across various media and has told stories in a range of formats. A stickler for detail, she has edited magazines on diverse subjects such as innovation, travel, lifestyle, and culture, and coffee-table books.
Nalini believes that stories are everywhere. So she spends much of her time looking for them—in a desert so bare and in a cuddly grizzly bear; in a crowd of people and under the peepul; on a carved wooden board and in a crow who looks bored; in the history of a knight and in the stillness of the night!
She enjoys making her way through a maze of ideas, disentangling a web of plot lines, digging through tunnels of research, living the lives of multiple characters at once, and finally discovering a treasure trove of tales.
She developed an interest in writing for children while working with India’s only all-comics children’s magazine, Tinkle. Today, leading children’s publishers such as ACK Media, Campfire Graphic Novels, FunOKPlease Publishing, Puffin Books (Penguin Random House India), and Scholastic India have published Nalini’s works.
