Nalini believes that stories are everywhere. So she spends much of her time looking for them—in a desert so bare and in a cuddly grizzly bear; in a crowd of people and under the peepul; on a carved wooden board and in a crow who looks bored; in the history of a knight and in the stillness of the night!

She enjoys making her way through a maze of ideas, disentangling a web of plot lines, digging through tunnels of research, living the lives of multiple characters at once, and finally discovering a treasure trove of tales.

Her journey through the realms of fiction and non-fiction has so far been as adventurous as it was challenging. She has worked across various media and told stories in a range of formats. A stickler for detail, she has edited magazines on diverse subjects such as innovation, travel, lifestyle, and culture, and coffee-table books too.

She developed an interest in writing for children while working with India’s only all-comics children’s magazine, Tinkle. Today, leading children’s publishers such as ACK Media, Campfire Graphic Novels, FunOKPlease Publishing, Puffin Books (Penguin Random House India), Red Panda (Westland Publications), and Scholastic India have published Nalini’s works.
